We visited the Hotel Babel for the 3rd time on our recent trip to Buenos Aires. We love the location and the slightly quirky vibe. The hotel is small but it is right in the middle of San Telmo, our prefered neighborhood. The staff is friendly and interesting. Good restaurants are within walking distance.

Charm all around: location, ambience, and staff. The hotel is within steps of amazing cafes and bars and within blocks of the center of the action and still feels like a peaceful refuge. As others have said, the staff are amazing: warm, friendly, and helpful. They speak perfect English but were also willing to let us practice our bad Spanish. Stay and enjoy. Buenos Aires is an amazing city and Hotel Babel is the perfect base to explore it from.

We stayed for four nights here. Hotel Babel is a small hotel with (I think) 10 rooms - this small size means everyone gets a very personal service. The hotel entrance is always locked and visitors are greeted at the door, as a result it feels very safe as no one can just wander in. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful; we received lots of information about the best places to eat, have coffee and explore (all explained in perfect English). We stayed in the courtyard rooms and these ar... Read more

We only stayed for a night at Hotel Babel. The location is perfect for exploring San Telmo and even Puerto Madero. I loved the tastefully decorated lobby and in overall the adaptation of an old house into a hotel. Staff were really nice and helpful. At arrival and departure they helped us with our bags. If anything from breakfast ran out, they would gladly bring more. Wherever we were going, they always offered advice. Nevertheless, our room could see some improvements. Compared to the onlin... This is only a few blocks from the Mercado and Plaza Dorrego. The front desk staff were exceptional: friendly, helpful, and informative. Our room was quiet and had a comfy king size bed. I found the historic connection (see foto of sidewalk plaque) to the Guerra Sucia a sad, but interesting, reminder. We would definitely consider this hotel if we came back to San Telmo. That said, we were misled by a website that called this a luxury 4-star hotel. It's not. Breakfast was not included; there did... Read more

We spend 2 nights at Hotel Babel. The room was nice, a little loud, but that's ok for the centre of a big town. At the day of our departure we had problems with our flight and Ra - a new guy at the reception - helped us a lot by calling the south american airline, because they didn't speak english there?! Thanks again, Ra.

I have to admit that my first impression of this hotel, arriving late at night, wasn't overwhelmingly positive. However, with daylight and a necessary room change due to a missing air con remote, I found its charm. It is indeed an older building with character. The rooms have some nice shelving which is helpful in controlling luggage explosions. There was some street noise in our upstairs room, but it was still nice to have a window, and nothing that ear plugs couldn't mange. It was nice to... Read more

Comfortable place in a great location. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating and the rooms were clean and tidy. Definitely a good option if you're looking for a stay in San Telmo! They provide a basic breakfast, good reliable wifi.

The hotel it is located in a perfect zone nearby restaurants and things of interest. We had problems with the ligt one day but at the check out the receptionist discounted one night of the total and that solved the issue. The breakfast was nice and the menu (omelet) was perfect cooked. Miguel helped us a lot finding different things to do, he was awesome!!! Actually the whole staff was really nice to us. We recommend 100% this hotel and also we are coming back in a few weeks.

I didn't get to stay here due to my booking not going through, but can't rate the welcome and help I got from Jose, at reception, highly enough. Thanks so much. Avoid using 7ideas, a company offering great rates on Trip Advisor - they're trouble.
