rather too many corners are being cut at what has the potential to be a special venue : drinks served in polystyrene cups is certainly not acceptable and new sun beds are needed to replace the ones which have been vandalised. Despite the damage , guests still need to relax on decent sun beds on the beach. Not having a reliable supply of water is still an issue . The location and peace and quiet , however , still cannot be beaten .

We used Hawksbill as a quiet base to explore the island for a few days after a week in another resort. I travelled with my two children. Unfortunately the first encounter I had (after the very welcome glass of fizz at reception) was with a couple who stopped us and said 'I think you'll find this is an adults only resort'. Rather a hostile welcome. When I mentioned this to the manager at the end of our stay, he was aghast and wanted to reassure me families were welcome. Arriving home I have found... Read more

I visited Hawksbill in October lots of cats pestering for food, unfortunately I was bitten by one of these cats and had to call the doctor for medication which cost me 365 US dollars. Was promised that they would consider a cull of these cats. Unfortunately a short period after my anti biotics finished by bite flared up again and yet another course of anti biotic. We went to Cuba for Christmas and what do I get yet again another flare up of this cat bite, but this time with serious side effects ... Read more

We have been here so many times and each time we fall in love with the beach and location. It is truly superb. The staff are amazing - we love them, they are like friends. The hotel has been undergoing a gradual refurbishment and there are lots of positives - air conditioning in some rooms. That said - I would prefer a nice smart bathroom with lovely soft towels and crisp sheets. I would also prefer good food, I know the staff can do better than they currently are. I don't want fussy or fancy -... Read more

This was my second visit to Hawksbill, the first was March 2016 and it was so enjoyable I immediately booked a December return trip. The hotel has settled down and things have definitely continued to improve over the last nine months. The staff are more at ease, the standard of the food has been significantly raised and there seem to be fewer small problems. As the manager, John St Luce put it, 'this is a work in progress, everything cannot be done at once'. The holiday suited me perfectly a... Read more

Have mulled over what to say about this resort.......overall a nice experience. I understand why some people love it and keep returning. Beautiful beaches and gorgeous scenery. Shame about the mediocre food, water shortages, biting insects and lack of a proper swimming pool. If you are a keen swimmer then only Seagrapes will suit - other beaches have substantial rock formations which prevent access to the water. Personally I would not return there as I need better quality food and accommodation... Read more

Hawksbill never fails to impress. The view from reception is something else. Staff at reception are very professional and will go that extra mile to give you any information you may need. Daily, in reception is posted the evening meals. If you need a taxi to go into St John's or Shirley Heights then again there are sheets pinned up for you to book. Any trips book with the rep or hotel. The rooms are in two main blocks or along the gardens or seaside. They are at present still renovating the ro... Read more

We have been home for 3 weeks and still feeling very relaxed. We usually stay in Beachfront Bungalows and wanted to try Honeymoon Cove for a change and we were upgraded when we arrived. We loved the privacy and felt like we were all alone. This is always a very healthy vacation for us due to all the walking and swimming on the property, and the food is just right for us. If you have mobility problems you might want to try somewhere else. There has been some upgrades but they have still managed t... Read more

So...Hawsbill Resort. You will already have read the mixed selection of reviews. The most recent gives a fair idea I think. From our point of view, we loved it, but we had no illusions about what to expect having friends who have stayed there many times. Don't have high expectations and you won't be disappointed. If you want hermetically sealed all-singing all-dancing luxury and service with gourmet food...then don't stay here!!! There re plenty of other places like that on the island. You can s... Read more

The varied reviews are surprisingly accurate, but the conclusions reached must be based on expectation. Expect too much and you WILL be disappointed. Rather than repeat my opinions I have scored individual aspects that I felt were important. Note - we went for a quiet relaxed break...Bungalow 131. Location - 10. Set around 4 sandy bays, incl nudist beach. Idyllic Room comfort - 7 (Bed 8 / bathroom 6) Comfy large bed. Bathroom functional but tired. Food - 6 All inclusive. Everything buffet. Tasty ...
