"My wife and I traveled to Antigua and stayed for one week at the Verandah. I had seen prior reviews and critiques about the resort and was not deterred at all. The resort staff were all friendly and accommodating to our requests. Between the three restaurants on the resort, the food was good. The bartenders at the 3 bars whipped up some awesome island drinks. The grounds on the resort were beautiful. It was everything you would think an ecologically friendly resort would be (lots of palm trees and pretty landscaping, tree frogs, small lizards, coconut and bananas growing on the resort, etc.). The two beaches (Rasta and Main Beach) were both protected by a reef and the waters in the bay were clear and made for some great water sports (I kayaked and paddle boarded in the clear calm water). For snorkelers, you can take a 5 minute walk to the Long Bay Beach next door to the property. The water was crystal clear and the snorkeling experience was outstanding.
The resort was quite hilly, but there were shuttles every 5-10 minutes to drive people around so it was not a problem. It even felt good to walk the grounds and get some exercise after eating all the good food. Being lulled to sleep at night by the singing of tree frogs did take some getting used to, but it is to be expected at an 'eco-resort'. After a while you get used to the background noise and it becomes calming.
My wife and I will definitely come back to Antigua and stay at this resort. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and would highly recommend it to anybody."
