Just spent 2 great weeks in this idyllic resort. The hotel is rustic and our room was kept clean, we were kept supplied with clean towels and shampoo. The beach is great and plenty of loungers and shade make it easy to spend all day there. The staff , no matter what their role in hotel are absolutely fantastic nothing too much trouble and always have a smile for you. The manager is very hands on and is obviously very popular with his staff. If you are looking for an extremely laid back relaxing ... Read more

First off at this price point. I do not expect the Ritz. I do expect what I got which was amazing service from the bartender, to the GM whom sorted of tries to blend in, to the weird evening entertainment that better after a loads of rum. The kidney shaped pool that is so 1970's and the bizarre slightly stale tea sandwiches that we still ate.. The breakfast was the bomb! Omelets bar, fresh fruit, good coffee. Lunch, it is fine, grilled fish, burgers... Dinner was OK but again what you are... Read more

Reception staff need to learn some customer service skills. They are miserable and never smiling or welcoming. It would appear that everything is too much effort. We booked a standard room which is sub-standard at best. The room smelt and was musty, the safe did not work, and the sink was blocked. The towels and bedding were so old and off white they were almost grey. The valance on the bed was stained and filthy. The water coming out of the tap was a dirty brown colour and then stopped alt... We have just returned from three weeks at the Halcyon Cove by Rex and had a wonderful time. As has been stated, the hotel is in need of modernisation and the new General Manager Mr Thiart is doing just that. There is an ongoing programme updating the rooms, gardens and restaurants but Rome wasnâ??t built in a day, so give the man a chance. The staff are wonderful, and each and every one should be congratulated on doing a sterling job. There are too many to name specifically, but a special mentio... Read more

We checked it to Halcyon Cove and we were a bit disappointed with our room. It was a garden room, I am guessing what is classed as a standard room. We was hoping for a pool view room so I asked at reception and they moved us to room 336 which had a view of the pool and beach and we couldnâ??t be happier. The beach has to be seen to be believed, by far the best beach we have ever been to. The sand is pure white and the sea crystal clear. We walked the beach every morning up to Coconut Grove and ... Ive been to this resort twice now with my family as its my parents favourite and weve always had amazing memories here! the last time we went we made amazing friends and had a brilliant time. The warry peer is lovely and so is coconut grove just down the beach. The only problems i had were cocroaches in the room alot (but im sure that was just my room?) and there is a mardy bar man at the beach bar. With all the efforts put out by the generous staff, the owners should be ashamed of tagging this hotel a Rex Halcyon resort. They have treated the hotel as a distant cousin that should be shunned. The property lies on one of the most beautiful beaches but despite this no care has been taken to upgrade the property from the 70's and bring it into today's Era. Me and my partner stayed here this month from the 9th - 16th September 2016 We stayed in a pool side room that was Newley decorated and very pleasant , We where very surprised after all the negative reviews . You can see that they are making great changes throughout the hotel , the gardens are beautiful with newly planted palm trees and plants. Not everything can be done over night which I think people need to appreciate , all the staff where lovely and pleasant throughout our stay , sitting o... Read more

This is a 3 star hotel which ticks all the boxes and more. As everyone else has said the staff are wonderful, very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is lovely, fresh and homemade, some fantastic Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and curried goat with rice and beans. Cocktails are great and free flowing, they are definitely not tight on the measures! We had a pool view room, it was very spacious and had a huge and very comfy bed. It was very light an... Read more

We stayed at this resort and had a great time. The location is to die for and the views of the beach and surrounding landscapes ideally is breathtaking. The room was spacious and clean. The linens were just ok, and the towels lost their fluffiness. But the bed was huge and very modern. The food was a bit disappointing, it lost its Caribbean taste and it was very repetitive. We had gone out a few times because we knew exactly what was next on the menu board. The activities advertised but NE... Read more

The resort is rated as a 3 star and this is probably correct but it doesn't tell the whole story. From a purely amenities point of view Halcyon Cove is a bit tired in places although quite a lot of refurbishment is under way. The original part of the resort was constructed in the 1960's but the location is superb. I heard that the neighbouring Sandels resort have tried unsuccessfully to acquire the site! The room we had was adjacent to the pool. Air Conditioning was effective and quiet. The bed ... Read more

Having read the reviews on this hotel we were a little worried on what we would find but we were very pleasantly surprised. Most of the reviews quite rightly mention the tired state of the hotel and they are currently revamping rooms while we were there but for VFM (value for money) couldn't fault it. Room was large & clean although in need of modernisation but bed was huge and comfortable. Beach was the beautiful and walk 50 yds along and you are on the same as the Sandals Resort beach (paying ... Read more

I stayed here almost two years ago. It is an average resort however it was going thru a changeover stage at the time of my stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was good, but it what is too expect when travelling abroad and the rating of the resort. have to remember in order to get food like you get at home, then stay in a five star plus resort. It is very secluded and the beach is small. Rooms needed upgrades and that that just starting or going to happen in the coming months acco... Read more

I can not give enough praise about this resort, they give first class customer service it is in a great location and they did everything in there power to make our day special and it certainly was just what we were looking for! We just avoided a down pour on our wedding day which was lucky but it meant we couldn't have our evening dinner on the beach (a wedding package extra) the next day when we went down for our dinner and to our surprise they had set out a table on the beach for us courtesy o... My flight was diverted to Antigua because of the weather in Barbados. We were bussed to Halcyon Cove from the airport. I was shown to my room (most of the way) when we were nearly there he just pointed to some steps and told my the room number, when I arrived at the room it was all locked up, I wrongly assumed the key was in the lock as some hotels do, so I had to walk back to reception and ask for the key. Got to the room, two bedside lights, neither had bulbs in, no ceiling or wall lights in t... Read more

I have stayed at a lot of different places all over the Caribbean. To give you some perspective, when I totaled my time in the Caribbean, it came to 2 and a half years. I have stayed in Nevis, Barbados, Trinidad, Haiti, and Guyana. A common thread all over the Caribbean is running water issues, and the occasional power outages. What I will review today is what is uncommon about Halcyon Cove. By far, this has to be the most comfortable I have ever been. They have successfully made me feel like a ... Read more

Arriving to Antigua I had a bad experience with delayed flight... etc... I had the thought that I would never return to this place...However, I had the opportunity to reside at Halcyon Cove which was phenomenal. My daughter loved it there. The staff exceeds high expectations of what great Customer Service ought to be, by going above and beyond ensuring that everything was ok. My items were brought to my room, which was well lit, and the A/C works perfectly. "In reality people need things done i... Read more

To sum it up Halcyon Cove is excellent value for money. Its set on a beautiful safe beach. Our room had a fantastic beach front view that would have cost a lot more in other resorts I could mention (see photo). It was a little tired in places but air conditioning and shower worked very well. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. Especially the lovely Corlette who will do anything to help. Wrote a review in March 2015 and we came back this time for our beach wedding. There are some negative reviews on here but I find some people expect 5+++ when the rating clearly states different and some people can't see the gem that this place is. Upon arrival we took a shuttle to the hotel from the airport which is about 10-15 min drive. Hotel staff greeted us and provided a welcome drink and checked us in quickly. We have just stayed here for two weeks when we booked we didn't realise it was out of season as it is the rainy season. We actually had 3 hours rain one day 10 mins another. We really enjoyed how quiet it was actually as you could have the pick of anywhere on the beach you wanted or if you just wanted to sit around the pool you could. To say there wasn't many quests staying you still got a good variety of choice for your meals. The chefs were very good the food was delicious. You got to eat on t... Read more

Late sept-early October This is our second visit to Halycon Cove. Once again we were treated to 5 star service from a 3 star resort. We were advised prior to our trip that the resort was in low season and the weather would be hot. They got that right; the weather was Hot and Humid. There were about 60 people at the resort. From our point of view that was great. The food was brilliant as always. Although the selection was catered for the low season, there was always plenty of food available wit... Read more

We stayed at the Halcyon Cove for one night on our way through Antigua and came away with a feeling mainly of relief that we weren't staying there for any longer. The hotel is tired, very tired, with old décor, sliding doors that don't slide, old fashioned wicker furniture, and very dated features. Everything looks worn and tired and mostly doesn't work properly. There was no water the morning of our stay - understandable for a Caribbean island, but in this case was due to human error rather th... Read more
