WonderWorks began as a Top Secret research laboratory on a remote island in the Bermuda Triangle. As legend has it, the world`s greatest scientists (led by Professor Wonder) were given the task of creating a man-made tornado and harnessing the POWER of it. During the experiment, something went awry and the power of the tornado was unleashed throughout the laboratory. This created a swirling vortex that was strong enough to rip the laboratory from its foundation. It was carried thousands of miles away and landed upside-down on the of a crab shack in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Remarkably, all of the experiments remained intact and functional. Visitors will step inside the inversion tunnel and be turned upside-down to begin their journey.
The attraction is an “amusement park for the mind,” combining education and entertainment in over 100 hands-on exhibits that will spark the imagination and stimulate the mind. Visitors to the attraction will enjoy a variety of experiences including being blown away by 74 mile per hour hurricane-force winds, maneuvering the controls of a NASA spacecraft to land the shuttle, lying on a bed of 3,500 nails, piloting a fighter jet, designing and riding a 360 degree virtual roller coaster, playing virtual sports.
