Zoo Atlanta
Overview

Zoo Atlanta is a modern-day destination, seeking to teach the public about its animal ambassadors and work for the preservation of their wild counterparts.

There are around 5,400 known mammal species on Earth; more than 40 of these species are represented at Zoo Atlanta. Like reptiles, amphibians (frogs, toads, salamanders and their cousins) inhabit most parts of the globe, but around one-third of the nearly 6,000 known amphibian species on Earth currently face extinction. More than 20 species of this cold-blooded class are represented at Zoo Atlanta, and many are critically endangered.

Zoo Atlanta is also home to more than 50 species of birds, including the world’s largest bird species, the ostrich.
