The 65,000 square foot facility features 300 feet of crystal clear acrylic tunnels holding over 700,000 gallons of filtered Bay water that is home to over 20,000 aquatic animals, including sharks, bat rays and skates. New exhibits installed in April 2009 include an octopus exhibit, a jellies exhibit and PG&E Bay Lab, an interactive climate change exhibit. Your visit to Aquarium of the Bay will take you through three fascinating environments that display the amazing riches that lie beneath the surface of the San Francisco Bay and surrounding waters. You will also meet local and exotic land animals, and learn more about the need to protect their habitats.
Discover the Bay - You`ll begin your exploration of San Francisco Bay with an introduction to the distinctive ecosystems that support an incredibly wide variety of marine life.
Under the Bay - Your Aquarium adventure continues with a descent into the hidden world beneath San Francisco Bay. You will enter the first of two crystal clear tunnels, 300 feet in length, where you`ll be surrounded by 700,000 gallons of filtered Bay water and more than 20,000 aquatic animals.
Touch the Bay - Your final stop is Touch the Bay, where you will find PG&E Bay Lab, an interactive exhibit featuring land animals as nature`s ambassadors for protecting their habits against climate change. In this exhibit you`ll be able to touch land animals like California King Snakes, as well as marine animals like Leopard Sharks and Bat Rays.
San Francisco Magic Show on the Bay Newly Added! - San Francisco Magic on the Bay is an energetic, world class, rib-tickling magic show for all ages, set in the beautifully remodeled Bay Theater at the Aquarium of the Bay. This Magic and Comedy experience combines Master Magician Timothy Noonan's family friendly, clean comedy with mind-blowing illusions and baffling feats of mind reading! Includes extensive audience participation, mind reading, and even a "live" raccoon! During this interactive 75-minute show, you will see a variety of classic and modern magic, including an amazing drawing come to life, impossible mind reading, and a levitation - with a twist! Shows every Saturday at 2:00 PM.
