Creole Breakfast and the Degas House Tour

The concept is simple: Rise early and enjoy an authentic Creole breakfast, followed by our award-winning Edgar Degas House Pre-Impressionist Tour. Upon arrival, guests get treated to a cooked-to-order, homemade breakfast, with offerings such as French waffles with fresh fruit, over-sized Creole omelets with choice of fillings, or Bananas Foster Pain Perdu (French toast topped with caramelized bananas). In addition, a complimentary Bloody Mary or Mimosa accompanies each meal, provided by the Edgar Degas Foundation. Following their meal, visitors take part in our world-renowned guided tour experience, featuring a descendant of Degas as the lead tour guide.  The tour includes exploring the historic home, museum, courtyard, and Degas studio, and viewing the award-winning film "Degas in New Orleans, a Creole Sojourn." Also included is the Creole Neighborhood of Edgar Degas walking tour, which explores references to the neighborhood included in Degas' New Orleans letters. Degas created 18 paintings, 4 drawings and 5 letters while in New Orleans and according to art historians and Degas Scholars, all of his New Orleans paintings were created in the house. The Degas House is his only home or studio, in the world and has been distinguished by The French Ministry of Culture and is included in the French National Order of Arts and Letters and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lead by descendants of the great artist, the tour is filled with intimate stories about the great artist and his maternal family Degas' mother was a native Creole, born in New Orleans
